As if things weren’t bad enough in the environment of the Oakland A’s, now a controversy has just added to the infernal fall experienced by the Californian organization.
Which one this time? The one that descriptor Glen Kuiper sparked.
The 59-year-old is currently suspended after an on-air racial slur before Friday’s game against the Kansas City Royals.
We had a phenomenal day today at the League of (Insert N-word here) museum. And at Arthur Bryant’s barbecue.
Later in the game, in the sixth inning, Kuiper apologized. But the damage was done.
A little earlier in the show, I said something, which didn’t quite come out the way I wanted it to. I just wanted to apologize if that sounded different than what I meant. I just wanted to apologize for that.
Then he added a layer the next day.
I couldn’t be more sorry and horrified by what I said. I hope you will accept my most sincere apologies.
The culture will have to change within the brotherhood of presenters, both on television and on the radio, since this is not the first time that this has happened. Those who are still frozen in 1848 must look in the mirror, even if it can hurt the eyes to see that they are completely overwhelmed and that they no longer have their place in the environment.
Johnny Doskow and Vince Cotroneo, who do the A’s games on radio, will alternate on television while Kuiper is away.
