MLB: Rockies extend manager Bud Black’s contract for one season

DENVER — The Colorado Rockies extended manager Bud Black’s contract for a year on Tuesday.

He is now contracted until the end of the 2023 season.

Black is two career wins away from 1,000.

At the helm of Colorado, Black is 349-359 in five seasons.

He is third in team history for wins, after Clint Hurdle (534) and Don Baylor (440).

The 64-year-old Black pitched in the big leagues from 1981 to 1994.

As manager, his overall record is 998-1072. He coached the San Diego Padres from 2007 to 2015.
