For Madrid, the Miami Dolphins
The Miami Dolphins were therefore selected to be the first home team in Madrid for the first game in NFL history in Spain. As a reminder, the match will take place at the Santiago Bernabéu, home of the famous Real Madrid club.
“We are thrilled to play the first NFL game in Spain, a country rich in history, tradition and passion. It is also home to a large Dolphins fan base,” said Tom Garfinkel, President and CEO of the franchise.
The choice of the Miami Dolphins for the game is not a big surprise. On the one hand, this was an AFC team that should have the privilege of playing the game as host. On the other hand, the Dolphins, along with the Bears, hold the marketing rights to Spain. These rights are decided as part of the NFL's Global Markets Program.
Eight international matches
After the Colts for Berlin, the league has found its new home team for Madrid. In 2025, these are all matches that will be played internationally and confirm the NFL's ever-increasing attention to the international development of its brand.
