Sasha Vezenkov scores 45 points against Bayern Munich with three dribbles!

Having failed to establish himself in the NBA, Sasha Vezenkov returned to Europe and Greece last summer. And he has just achieved a historic performance in the Euroleague, with his club Olympiakos, against Bayern Munich.

In 35 minutes, and in the absence of Evan Fournier, he scored 45 points, the third mark in the competition since its new version in 2001, behind the 50 points of Nigel Hayes-Davis, who played for Team USA before the Olympic Games, and member of Fenerbahçe, in 2024, then the 49 points of Shane Larkin, also a former resident of the NBA, in 2019.

Above all, he shot 18/20 including a superb 8/10 at 3-points, only dribbling three times on his shots to succeed in his performance. Obviously, it reminds us of Klay Thompson, who one day in December 2016 scored no less than 60 points with only 11 dribbles.

Sasha Vezenkov, who already wore the Greek club's jersey before his short stint in the NBA, obviously said that “the most important thing is victory” – very broad in fact, 112-69 -, but he still returned, a little, to this crazy evening.

“It’s just one of those nights where you feel good. I missed my first shot, then I found my space”, he comments before emphasizing the collective performance of his team. “We made 36 assists, it’s important and it’s our philosophy. Our coach likes it, we want to do it, everyone knows how to pass and we try to move the ball. »
