Already the end of the adventure for Orlando Robinson in Sacramento. The 24-year-old undrafted pivot, to whom the Kings gave a chance this summer, has just been cut, as reported by ESPN.
The former Miami interior, where he played his first two seasons (67 appearances in total), did not have much luck in California. Hit in the knee in training ahead of the season, he only made his first appearance in mid-November.
The Las Vegas native was then only given crumbs behind the omnipresent Domantas Sabonis, and his replacement Alex Len, or even Trey Lyles, used in position 5. Not much higher in the Kings' rotations, Jae Crowder And Doug McDermott see their contracts guaranteed until the end of the season.
After an express recruitment, the first has finally only played six games so far, including two as a starter, before falling off the radar, notably due to back discomfort. More regularly mobilized, the second still brings skill in sequence (41% at 3-points over the season).
The Kings now have an additional spot on their roster. Still according to ESPNthe Sacramento franchise is now at $3.2 million under the “luxury tax” and at $7 million under the first “apron”. Useful for moving for the sake of moving next February?
