Jaren Jackson Jr. much too strong for the Mavericks

Return home well negotiated for the Grizzlies. After a complicated “road trip” to the West, the Taylor Jenkins men found their way to victory (119-104) at the end of a match where at least two executives were missing on both sides (Ja Morant, Desmond Bane; Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving).

The Grizzlies can thank their strong man of the moment, Jaren Jackson Jr.who harassed the interiors opposite throughout the evening. The latter failed to contain his combination of power and speed with the ball in hand. “JJJ” was well supported by Scotty Pippen Jr. (18 points), very solid in the final, and rookie Jaylen Wells, author of his first “double-double” (17 points and 11 rebounds).

Before seeing Memphis win for the 10th time in its last 11 home games, the Texans sold their skin dearly without their leaders. Behind the initial performance of Spencer Dinwiddie, Klay Thompson and PJ Washington, the visitors even finished the first quarter with a 10-point lead (26-36).

This gap was erased in the second quarter, at the end of which the visitors took control of the match (56-55). Jaren Jackson Jr. then flexed his muscles to give his team a ten-point lead. But Jaden Hardy and his team remained in ambush for a good part of the fourth quarter.

On another winning basket from the substitute, Dallas was only two possessions away 10 minutes from the end (95-89). But the visitors had too much trouble slowing down Pippen Jr.'s vista, while Jay Huff signed the “dagger” behind the arc with a minute to go.

WHAT TO REMEMBER

Jaren Jackson Jr. All-Star level. If the Grizzlies are to be represented in the All-Star game, it is difficult to see how a second selection could escape the interior. For the third time since mid-December, “JJJ” passes the 30-point mark and for the third time, victory is on the way for the Grizzlies. In the absence of Ja Morant, he assumes his responsibilities. Over his last six outings, Jaren Jackson Jr. averages 28 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists.

The Mavs continue to lose ground. With five losses in a row, the Texans display the worst dynamic in the West. With 20 wins for 16 losses, the Mavs slipped to 6th place in their conference. And their schedule might not help them get back on track: they welcome a direct competitor, the Lakers, a more modest opponent (Blazers) and especially the Nuggets twice.
