The Seattle Seahawks have decided to part ways with Ryan Grubb. Their now ex-offensive coordinator only stayed one short year at the head of the attack.
According to Adam Schefter (ESPN), Seattle did not hesitate to part with the coach despite a 10-win season but without playoffs. In recent weeks, speculation about his future has been rife. And the final results did not seem to play a role in management's decision, according to local journalists. Ryan Grubb leaves behind a good statistical season for Geno Smith (QB) but above all he allowed the emergence of Jaxon Smith-Njigba during his second career season.
Head coach Mike MacDonald justified the decision by a “different vision” of what the two men wanted for the attack. He added that “the decision was not easy to make and that Ryan Grubb is an excellent coach” speaking to Seattle Sports.
Ryan Grubb best in school
It must be said that the offensive coach presents a particular profile. Seattle was his first experience on the sidelines of an NFL franchise. At the time of his signing, he was coming off a final season with the University of Washington, which he had led to the playoffs with the best offense in the country. However, his precepts failed to translate to the next level. Worse, he abandoned certain ideas that were his strength.
Ryan Grubb therefore failed to become the X factor of the franchise. Time will tell if the coach will have another chance in the NFL or if his career definitely has a place at the college level.
