Fines continue to rain down in the NBA and the heated end of the match between the Rockets and the Heat forced the league to rule on the incident firmly and as accurately as possible. As Miami cruised to victory with less than a minute remaining on Sunday, tempers flared between Amen Thompson And Tyler Herroand the nerves of the Houston sophomore cracked, since the winger threw the Florida back to the ground!
What followed was a great chaos, forcing the referees to send off four players (Amen Thompson, Terry Rozier, Jalen Green and Tyler Herro) as well as the Texan coach Ime Udoka and his assistant Ben Sullivan.
The NBA closed the incident by issuing the sanctions imposed on the actors on Tuesday. Amen Thompson is the one who inherits the heaviest with a two-match suspension. For having thrown himself to the ground and making the situation worse, Terry Rozier received a one-match suspension. Jalen Green and Tyler Herro were fined $35,000 and $25,000 respectively. Ime Udoka will have to pay a fine of $50,000 for having “verbally assaulted an official and not having left the field on time”.
Note that the suspensions of Amen Thompson and Terry Rozier will also result in salary losses, a little more than $143,000 for Terry Rozier and nearly $127,000 for Amen Thompson.
Shortly before the scuffle, Fred VanVleet was also ejected for shoving referee Marc Davis. A really light shove which will still cost him a fine of 35,000 dollars!
