Michael Vick will become head coach of Norfolk State in the NCAA. While there has yet to be an official announcement from the university, several sources confirmed the news to ESPN. At 44, a new career is opening up for the former Falcons and Eagles star. Since retiring in 2017, Vick has been an analyst for Fox Sports.
Michael Vick, the power of experience
Michael Vick never won the supreme title or even been named MVP. But he still has some accomplishments in his career to be proud of. Vick led Virginia Tech to the national final in 1999 before becoming the first black quarterback to be chosen first overall in the draft. He also became the first quarterback to surpass 1,000 rushing yards. It is also the leader in the category, all-time, with 6,109 yards. A four-time Pro-Bowler, he was not always exemplary. This is evidenced by his regrets over his two-year suspension for organizing dog fights. His words could be given credibility among the young players he is preparing to coach.

It is also the story of almost a return home for Michael Vick. Originally from NewPort News in Virginia, he will therefore practice about thirty kilometers from his home, at Norfolk State. Also in the running for the job at Sacramento State, it's a homecoming for the quarterback who trained at another university in Virginia, Virginia Tech. Norfolk State, an HBCU (Historically Black College and University) is coming off a season of 4 wins for 8 losses. The university plays in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, in the first university division. It is therefore a great challenge that awaits Michael Vick for his first experience on the bench.
