Lions lose David Montgomery

ESPN announces that David Montgomery will be out indefinitely following a knee injury in the game against the Bills. The Detroit runner is injured in the medial collateral ligament.

The American media specifies that Montgomery will undergo other examinations, and that he will seek a second medical opinion. Unfortunately, given the progress of the season, he could be out for the remainder of the Lions campaign.

If fears are confirmed, the running back should be placed on the injured list in the coming days.

David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs, the two-headed monster of the Lions

Recruited after four years in Chicago, Montgomery found a new home in Detroit, where he forms a devastating pair with Jahmyr Gibbs, drafted in 2023. The duo, nicknamed “Sonic” and “Knuckles”, is one of the reasons for the Lions’ success over recent years. With the absence of Montgomery, it is “Sonic” Gibbs who will have to carry the load in the ground game for the Michigan team.

In 2024, Montgomery has participated in 14 games. He produced 775 yards and 12 touchdowns on 185 carries, as well as 36 receptions for 341 yards. He signed a contract extension for two more campaigns last October.
