In control and well helped by their All-Star duo, Tyrese Haliburton (21 points, 10 assists) – Pascal Siakam (22 points), Pacers achieved easy success against the Pelicans at home. This success, Indiana offered it thanks to a strong end to the second quarter, from which the players of New Orleans.
The two teams are evenly matched in the first quarter, but it is in the second that the “break” is created: the Pacers go all out in attack, at 3-pointers, in transition or all in aggression. In rhythm, Tyrese Haliburton, Obi Toppin and other Myles Turner (also very dissuasive in defense) thus inspire the “run” which puts the gap close to twenty.
Meanwhile, like their leaders CJ McCollum, Dejounte Murray, Trey Murphy III and Herb Jones, the Pelicans accumulate blunders in shooting and with the ball, even if second chances have kept them in the game for a long time. (59-42).
After the break, the match starts again on a (very) offensive basis and each team takes the opportunity to improve its stats in the area. Except that, despite Dejounte Murray, this does not benefit New Orleans, unable to slow down the Indiana attack which is running at full speed.
Tyrese Haliburton continues to pull the entire local collective to the top with his award-winning success and, once Pascal Siakam adds a layer in the last act, we quickly understand that nothing will change on the scoreboard (119 -104).
TO REMEMBER
– Indiana continues. Already attractive in Philadelphia on Friday, the Pacers continued their momentum two days later and their two victories did a lot of good for Rick Carlisle's men, who found color on the offensive level. The symbol of this collective improvement is obviously their ability to rotate the ball well or to demonstrate efficiency at 3-points. Without forgetting the level of Tyrese Haliburton, who remains in two successful matches and in line with his status (the balance provided by Andrew Nembhard is no stranger to this). To be confirmed now on a “road trip” to the West (Phoenix, Sacramento, Golden State).
– The premiere of Thomas Bryant. Formerly a resident of Indiana University, the new Pacers center made his debut with his new team, two days after his arrival from Miami. The opportunity for him to accumulate 7 points and 2 rebounds in 11 minutes (100% shooting), and to realize that he would have playing time behind Myles Turner at position 5. Tyrese Haliburton and TJ McConnell should, moreover, offer him a lot of good shooting positions, as was already the case last night.
