Giants – Saints (11-14): New York’s attack at the bottom of the bucket

In a stadium that sounded a little hollow, the courageous people who made the trip to New Jersey were not really rewarded. If turning the page on Daniel Jones seemed like a good idea, it is clear that the Giants' attack is sinking a little deeper each week. Facing one of the most permissive defenses in the league (30th NFL), Drew Lock (21/49, 227 yards, 1 TD, 1 int) took far too long before moving the chains.

The late injury to Derek Carr (20/31, 219 yards, 1 TD, 1 int) gave New York hope. But as a symbol of a nightmare season, the equalizing field goal was blocked.

The star punters of the day

15! This is the number of kicks given by the punters during the match. An incessant exchange is gaining ground as the attacks have had all the difficulty in the world to be expressed. Between imprecision and bad choices, Lock did not exist for 3 quarters. It was only at the end of the match that he finally hit a few targets.

If the New Orleans punter was less in demand than his counterpart, he almost saw one of his tries returned for a touchdown if the action had not ultimately been canceled. Which earned him a blow from his coach. Almost the only notable fact of the 1st. Almost because Kendre Miller still gave the Saints the advantage on the ground during the first quarter, helped by the collective effort of his line.

The Saints leave the door open, the Giants close it

But faced with so much offensive mediocrity from their opponents, the Saints were unable to drive the point home, stringing together 6 fruitless possessions. And if Carr finds Juwan Johnson to give an 11-point lead, that is not enough to avoid a (small) scare at the end of the match.

At the end of his team's only interesting series, Malik Nabers reduced the score by catching a blocked pass from his quarterback. The two-point conversion put the home side one kick away from equalizing.

With Derek Carr playing the kamikaze, and coming out with his hand surely hit, the Saints are no longer moving forward a bit. Two opportunities for the Giants to at least seek extension. Drew Lock spoils the 1st with a nasty interception. The 2nd may be the right one, the New York attack putting itself in ideal position for an easy field goal. Not so much. Bryan Bresee counters the leather and offers victory to his team.

The Giants are sinking further into limbo, and Brian Daboll must wonder if he will even be able to finish the season at his position.
