TJ McConnell, unexpected ambassador… of Ja 1

“Do you see my shoes? ». TJ McConnell did not hesitate to point out to Ja Morant that he wore Nike Ja 1 during the meeting between Memphis and Indiana won this week by the Grizzlies (136-121).

In the NBA, it is generally customary to not wear the signature shoe of a player you face in a match. But the leader of the Pacers has ignored traditions, he who seems to have found the right shoe for him with the Ja 1, which he has worn all the time for more than a season now. Aside from Ja Morant, no one has worn more than him!

“I tried them and instantly fell in love with them”, said TJ McConnell. “Honestly, I like shoes that are comfortable and support the foot well. When I put them on, they were extremely comfortable and I loved the look. It’s a great shoe and I love playing in it.”

The Ja 2 waits its turn

This is also an opportunity to point out that Ja Morant's signature line is rarely worn in the NBA. Ja Morant therefore took advantage of the meeting to thank TJ McConnell for the support, even if he also did what was necessary to beat the Pacers with 19 points and 8 assists.

“It’s affection, always”he said. “It’s huge. It's truly a privilege. I appreciate that he continues to wear them. Like I said, it’s just affection.”

TJ McConnell also indicated that he was currently playing with six pairs of Ja 1s, recalling in passing that he had already worn Ja 1s against the Grizzlies last season. He finally promised that he would get up to speed by upgrading to the Ja 2 when his stock is exhausted. Loyal to the tips of his toes, the TJ!

“I've been in this league for a long time and I'm a fan of good basketball. And he's a really great player. Every time I met him, he was cool with me. It's only natural that he has a great signature shoe.”he added.
