Jason Kidd finds the Mavs schedule messy and unfair

Dallas-based Mavs fans must be excited for next week to begin. Their favorite team will play two games in a row at home – four in this case (Clippers twice, Blazers and Wolves) – for the first time in… a month and a half.

This shows that the Mavs have been making a series of trips in recent weeks, without having much time to return to the American Airlines Center. The Texan team has played 10 of its last 14 away games. And it's not over yet, as the Mavs travel to Toronto next night, before another trip to OKC on Tuesday.

Chaining trips is one thing, but what about geographic “coherence”? “ We have gone as far as the West, and now we are going as far as the East. We're not going to complain about it, that's how it is. But that's not fair if you want players to play. When they are not playing, they (the NBA) can't complain when you have a schedule like this “, judges Jason Kidd.

The Mavs, for example, visited the Nuggets on November 22, before heading to Miami on the 24th, and to Atlanta the next day. Two days later, they played at home against the Knicks, before returning to Utah.

Victories always there

Yes, the calendar is messed up. This is something that needs to be looked at if we want fair competition. This schedule is messed up since we went from West to East, from Denver to Miami to Atlanta, we came home for a game », observes Jason Kidd after the victory in Washington.

He recalls that in the middle of a series of five trips, his team returned home for a single meeting, against the Grizzlies as part of the NBA Cup. Despite the wear and tear of these trips, including the last three against affordable teams (Jazz, Blazers, Wizards), his team is doing very well.

The Mavs remain on six victories in a row – the best current series in the league with that of the Hawks – and even 10 victories in 11 outings. The Texans, who have not been spared by visits to the infirmary since the start of the season, occupy 3rd place in the Western Conference.
