FIBA has received eight applications to organize Eurobasket 2029. There are Estonia, Finland, Germany, Greece, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Spain and Slovenia. Obviously, Luka Doncic hopes that the latter will be one of the four countries selected, which will be announced in May 2025, for the organization.
This is the system put in place since the 2015 edition. Moreover, the last time that EuroBasket was played in a single country was in 2013, with the coronation of the Blues by Tony Parker, in… Slovenia precisely.
“It’s a dream come true to play in front of our fans in a big tournament”, reacted Luka Doncic who, even precocious, was only 14 years old in 2013 and obviously could not participate in this Euro. The Mavericks All-Star would win this competition four years later, in 2017.
The Slovenian took the opportunity to confirm his presence at EuroBasket 2025, since Slovenia has officially qualified since the end of November. The competition will be held from August 27 to September 14, 2025 in Latvia, Cyprus, Finland and Poland.
