Over the first nine matches of the season, Bam Adebayo compiled “only” 14.8 points on average, at 38.6% overall success, including 18.2% by far. Not great when he wanted to become a real external threat…
But the interior of the Heat raised the bar against the Pistons (20 points at 8/13) and especially against the Pacers, with 30 points at 10/17 shooting including 2/3 from distance. What finally launches it on the offensive level this year?
“It’s a long season” he recalls. “You have to stay in your preparation, continue to work behind the scenes, don’t lower your head. As I said before, it's not natural for me to shoot at less than 50% success every night. But I keep the same mentality. My teammates and my coaches support me.”
Getting back into scoring through the rest
Above all, despite this period of less success in scoring, Bam Adebayo recalls that he weighs in other sectors.
“It’s a lesson for all young people” supports Erik Spoelstra. “If you want to change the energy of the ball and see it go in, you have to focus on the other aspects of the game, and he's been huge in everything that wins games, imposing his will on the last two games. He was such a force of nature against Detroit and Minnesota, focusing on defense, rebounding, creating situations for us, cuts…”
Other good news for the Heat: Jimmy Butler could return to the field this evening after his sprained right ankle which caused him to miss the last three games. It’s against the Pacers again.
