Chris Andersen goes to war with his former agent

Breakups between an agent and a former player are not uncommon in the world of the NBA. A bad decision and broken trust often explain this. It's a bit of a story of Chris Anderson currently, where Netflix, a theft of money and a creperie mix together…

The 2013 champion with the Heat was linked to Mark Bryant, against whom he filed a complaint on November 7, we learn from Denver Postin particular for “theft, fraudulent concealment, false declaration and professional misconduct”.

“This is a case that should be categorized as 'no good deed goes unpunished.' Mark Bryant saved Chris Andersen when he was kicked out of the NBA for violating the league's drug policy. He took care of himself out of the goodness of his heart. He was never paid and never received anything from Mr. Andersen”responded Mark Bryant's lawyer, Jeff Springer.

But what does Chris Andersen actually blame his former representative, whom he fired on June 5, 2023? Several things, mainly on financial files.

Money taken from his account

A little flashback: in 2012, a Canadian, Shelly Chartier, organized via social networks a relationship between the player and a 17-year-old girl, whom the former Denver player thought was of age. The latter was not worried by the courts, unlike Shelly Chartier, who served a year in prison for identity theft.

For several years, Chris Andersen refused to discuss this story publicly. Then, in 2020, he agreed to do it and tasked his agent with finding a way for him to produce this story and get paid. Mark Bryant, according to the former player's version, would have signed two agreements with two production companies, without this coming to fruition. Additionally, the “Birdman” was interviewed for a Netflix project and received nothing in return.

On June 4, 2023 (the day before the decision to fire the agent), everything is explained: he notices that a production company which signed with Mark Bryant had planned to pay money for the project. But not in his account, in that of his agent… In the process, he also learns that money has disappeared from his bank account, transferred to that of Mark Bryant and that of his legal assistant.

Bad advice for your creperie

Finally, last criticism: the history of the “Crepes 'n Crepes” creperies. Chris Andersen, since 2021, is in a relationship (they are even married) with the daughter of the owners – Alain and Ellina Veratti – of this restaurant. The latter, in 2022, want to move to Florida, therefore far from Colorado, and their son-in-law agrees to buy the restaurant, for a value of $650,000. Mark Bryant intervenes and advises him not to renew the lease of the establishment.

The former Miami player and his wife are therefore looking for other locations in Cherry Creek to set up the new restaurant. Here again, the agent advises him against this option. Finally, they will choose Congress Park, about twenty kilometers from Cherry Creek.

“As a result of Bryant's advice, Crepes 'n Crepes' business collapsed. The business was unprofitable for a single month at 1222 Madison St. and failed to pay its employees and taxes,” can we read in the complaint. And for lack of paying its taxes, the creperie was closed permanently.
