Glued to the end of the bench, Matas Buzelis could leave for the G-League

Making the big jump from the G-League to the NBA is never easy, even when you're selected 11th in the Draft. Like other rookies, Matas Buzelis discovered him with the Bulls, and after three games, he averaged 1.7 points with seven minutes of play per match. He is one of the rookies who plays and scores the least!

The competition on the wing is fierce, and Billy Donovan warns that it will be difficult to find playing time for him.

“With the number of guys we have at this position, I want to help Matas develop and grow, but I also want to make sure there are groups that will work together,” explains the Bulls coach. “For us, I think there’s still some work in progress with some of the rotations. »

The G-League is not 'disrespectful'

Clearly, Billy Donovan is looking for the best combinations in his rotation, and for the moment, Matas Buzelis is on the sidelines. But the Chicago coach points out that his new style of play is physically demanding, and that he wants a strong squad.

“I think we will need a lot of players, just the way we try to play,” continues the technician. “We have to find ways to get him into the game when we can, so he can get something out of it. »

While waiting for that moment, Matas Buzelis could imitate Bronny James and go to the G-League. Clearly, he doesn't like being back in this championship, even if it's the only way to play and progress.

“If I go there, it’s not my goal to be there”announces the Lithuanian. “I'm going to find my way with the big guys and try to get minutes in the Bulls squad. But if I have to go there, I don't take it as a lack of respect. I am here to learn and progress as a person and as a basketball player.”
