Beaten by the New York Liberty in the semi-finals this season, the Nevada club decided to change GM.
Hired in 2022, at the same time as Becky Hammon as coach, Natalie Williams is thus pushed out, her contract not being renewed as part of a restructuring of the organization chart.
“It has been a joy and an honor to be GM of the Las Vegas Aces”, reacted the 53-year-old former basketball playermember of the Hall of Fame since 2016. “Winning two WNBA titles with this incredible group of players and staff was a dream come true. I want to thank owner Mark Davis and the Aces franchise for the incredible opportunity I have been given to lead this franchise. I love the WNBA and have been thrilled to witness the growth of the sport. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for us now.”
In a press release, the franchise also thanks Natalie Williams, even if on the sidelines of the two titles, several controversies have punctuated her mandate, in particular this complaint for “discrimination” by Dearica Hamby.
The next GM will have a still very solid squad, obviously with the reigning MVP, A’ja Wilsonbut Kelsey Plum will test the market, and the arrival of the Golden State Valkyries will generate an “Expansion Draft”, the new club being able to draw on the workforce of other franchises. What further weaken the Aces?
