First complicated evening for Mikal Bridges

The Knicks had a bad time in Boston, drowned out by the outside shots of the Celtics who worthily celebrated their title won last June. And among the players suffering, there are notably Mikal Bridges.

His preseason and his change in shooting gestures caused concern, and the first match of the regular season did not reassure in this area since he started with a 0/5 shooting, including four 3-point misses! His first basket came at the start of the second half. His first shots were not easy, often contested and only the last two were relatively open.

“Mikal Bridges doesn’t care about any of that. We don’t care about the noise that surrounds him, that surrounds his shoot, we don’t care”, answers clearly Josh Hart after the loss. “He works every day. Debates are stupid. He shoots almost 40% on 3-pointers in his career. So talking about that is nonsense and we're not going to take it into account. »

Still too far from Jayson Tatum

Especially since the player can always console himself by saying that he shot 7/8 (2/3 behind the arc) in the second half, thus finishing with 16 points at 7/13 shooting. “Just scoring a basket is like the lid has opened”he assures us.

However, the former Suns' evening was not only difficult in attack. In defense too, he suffered, a lot even. Tasked with taking care of Jayson Tatum, he quickly found himself caught in screens, forcing the Knicks to make a change. With 37 points at 8/11 at 3-pts, the Olympic champion had a great time. Then, with confidence, he scored a few baskets on the head of an overwhelmed Mikal Bridges.

“I definitely could have done better. My defensive performance was not good,” concedes the New York player, who finished with a +/- of -33! “I could have been better, especially against a player with such pace at 3-points, I could have been closer to him. I have to do better. This is the first match, I will learn from this match and improve. »
