At least, for once, Deshaun Watson knows the reason for the tears. This Sunday, the Browns quarterback was injured during the Browns' game against the Bengals.
Watson collapsed without being touched by any opponent. Enough to suggest a serious injury to his right leg, which gave way. It could be a torn Achilles tendon. The Browns have confirmed that it is indeed the Achilles tendon which is affected, without specifying the seriousness of the problem at the moment.
In any case, the player quickly seemed to understand his misfortune. It was in tears that he left the field on a stretcher.
The exit of Deshaun Watson… good sporting news?
Catastrophic since the start of the season, Deshaun Watson was 15/17 for 128 yards since the start of the game against the Bengals. But his release will still allow the Browns to see if the attack could finally take off without him. Dorian Thompson-Robinson took over as Jameis Winston was relegated to third quarterback.
Moments after his release, Nick Chubb scored his first touchdown of the season.
Heading into their Week 7 game, the Browns had the third-worst offense in the NFL, averaging 15.8 points per game. With only one win for five losses, they also decided to get rid of Amari Cooper in a trade.
