Despite two consecutive seasons in the playoffs, the Dream separates from its coach

The waltz of coaches began in the WNBA, and after Teresa Weatherspoon in Chicago and Curt Miller in the Sparks, it is the turn of Tanisha Wright to take the door to Atlanta.

In place for three seasons, it remained on two consecutive qualifications in the playoffs. In the end, a “sweep” (2-0) against the Wings in 2023, then against the Liberty in 2024, and that was obviously nothing to be ashamed of.

“It’s a difficult decision to make. Tanisha played an important role in our efforts to rebuild the Dream”, said Dan Padoverthe vice president and GM of the Dream. “We would like to thank her for her work and dedication to the Dream over the past three seasons and wish her the best for the future.” At this point, we believe a change is necessary to lead our players and franchise into the next chapter in our efforts to become a premier team. »

Clearly, Tanisha Wright was not the ideal technician to help the Dream, stuck in the soft underbelly of the WNBA, to reach a milestone, and therefore a round of playoffs.

This season, Tina Charles' team once again finished with a negative record (15v-25d) but in a league with 12 teams, it is enough to make the playoffs. In fact, it's been six years since the Dream had a positive record.
