The end of the story between Davante Adams and the Raiders seems near. NFL Media reports that the receiver has requested a transfer.
He would have made the request on Monday. For the moment, his departure would not be imminent, but things could quickly accelerate. Especially since ESPN has already announced that the Raiders have informed other franchises that they would be ready to let Davante Adams leave if the compensation seems sufficient to them.
The leaders of Las Vegas would like to recover a choice from the second round of the Draft and some additional elements.
Davante Adams and the Raiders, a little over two years and that's it?
The trade would make sense for the Raiders. At 31 years old, Davante Adams still has a good rating in the league and he doesn't really fit into the team's current agenda.
Affected in the hamstring, he has so far posted 18 receptions for 209 yards and 1 touchdown in three games played in 2024. He missed his team's last game because of his injury.
Adams is under contract for the next two seasons with an annual salary of $36.25 million. He arrived in March 2022 in a trade with the Green Bay Packers. At the time, the idea was to reunite with Derek Carr, his college teammate at Fresno State. But since then, Carr has moved to the Saints.
An NFL star to get a ring?
Rumors sending Adams to reunite with Aaron Rodgers at the Jets are likely to multiply, even if nothing indicates that the New York franchise is more in the race than another for the services of the receiver currently. The Bills would also be a great idea, lacking a number one receiver in Josh Allen. But for now, this is all just speculation.
This assumes in particular that Adams wants to join a title contender to try to get a first ring. As such, the Chiefs, who are looking for a number one receiver and have just lost Rashee Rice to injury, would also be an attractive option. The big problem is that Kansas City is a division rival of the Raiders.
