The Greek Super Cup for Olympiakos with a still rusty Evan Fournier

For the third time in a row, theOlympiacos won the Greek Super Cup, beating Panathinaikos (86-85). This is therefore the first “official” trophy ofEvan Fournier with his Greek club.

However, in a match marked by numerous absences (Keenan Evans, Moustapha Fall, Shaquielle McKissic, Nikola Milutinov, Naz Mitrou-Long, Giannoulis Larentzakis, Kostas Antetokounmpo, Lorenzo Brown, Cedi Osman…) and a very long interruption to repair a panel following a dunk from Moses Wright, the Frenchman did not particularly shine, finishing the game with 7 points on 2/8 shooting and 4 rebounds in 30 minutes.

Fatigue… but promises

“Evan is not at a good level yet” explained his coach, Georgios Bartzokas, at a press conference. “He missed a lot of easy baskets for him. This is the first time I've used it for 30 minutes. It was my mistake, he was tired at the end and he only made one shot out of four. »

However, as for the rest of the team, the technician believes that the content is not so bad given that the group is still in the preparation phase, and that he had to do with a lot of absentees.

“In any case, everyone who understands basketball sees how he moves in space, and how he plays when he has the ball too. He understands how to play good basketball. When he is back at a good level and has adapted to the European game, he will be a very important link in the Olympiakos chain. »

In the meantime, he can count on Sasha Vezenkov, decisive with his 20 points, and who did not need too much time to readjust to the European game. Opposite, Mathias Lessort is close to a double-double (11 points, 8 rebounds).
