Diana Taurasi, if it were the last…

“If it was the last, it was the trip of a lifetime.” Here is the message posted by the Phoenix Mercury after its playoff elimination against Napheesa Collier's Minnesota Lynx.

Was this the last game of his career? Diana Taurasithe three-time WNBA champion (2007, 2009 and 2014) and six-time Olympic champion? Nothing has been decided yet, but the signs are multiplying…

“We'll see what she decides to do.” Nate Tibbetts could only answerhis coach, who took charge of the team this season. “That’s been her approach all along, but personally, I just want to thank her as a new coach in this league. For the way she’s embraced me and helped me all season. What an opportunity to have coached the greatest player of all time, and I’m very grateful for that.”

“One of the greatest competitors in the history of sport in general”

Her teammate, Brittney Griner, thanked her for everything she had been able to bring to her.

“I've never seen anybody come in, day in and day out, do the exact same thing and add something to it in order to stay on the field. I've always said that I attribute a lot of the way I read things, the way I can see things developing on the field, to [Diana Taurasi]. But I also have the chance to learn life lessons from [Diana Taurasi] » thus explains the interior.

In the opposing camp, despite the demonstration of Napheesa Collier and the exit for six fouls of Diana Taurasi, they also wanted to salute the career of the one who perhaps played her last professional match.

“Twenty years is incredible.” concluded Cheryl Reeve, the Lynx coach. “Truly incredible. Just thinking about playing 20 years at the highest level. And I've said it many times before: she's one of the greatest competitors in the history of the sport in general.”
