By choosing to maintain their confidence in Brian Keefe, the Wizards' leaders have sent a message: priority to the training and development of young people. Among them, two Frenchmen, Bilal Coulibaly And Alexandre SarrThe first has just celebrated his 20th birthday, and the second is only 19. Number 2 in the Draft, Olivier's brother missed his summer league, but his GM, Will Dawkins, is giving everyone a date at the end of the season.
“Honestly, I wouldn't put any limits… I think he's someone who, at the end of the season, will make you say 'ok, that was different'” he explains. “Early in the season, he'll have some negatives and some positives. But the things he can do on the field long term, I think you're going to be very excited.”
Bilal Coulibaly has grown physically
For Coulibaly, he will have to confirm within a squad that has transferred Deni Avdija. “He's had a great summer. Physically, when you see him, he's built up. But the experience of playing for France, winning the silver medal, going over there and getting those opportunities is great,” continues Dawkins, who was at the Olympics to follow his young defender.
For Coulibaly, this second year must be one of taking responsibility in attack. “I think he's still discovering himself. He's young, he's 20 years old… We knew he would be a defender first but you'll see him more and more with the ball, to penetrate… Physically, once his shoulders develop to go to contact, he'll be able to score more.”
