Liberty and Lynx assured of being number 1 and 2 seeds

It was only a matter of days, but it is now official: the Liberty will be number 1 seed in playoffsand Sabrina Ionescu's teammates will enjoy home-court advantage until the final. Easy winner over the Mystics on Tuesday night, New York (32v-7d) can no longer be caught at the top of the regular season, and this is only the second time in its history that the Liberty has finished first in the regular season. The first time was in 2015. Last season, the Liberty finished 2nd and lost in the final to the Las Vegas Aces, who had home-court advantage.

Behind the Liberty, the Lynx (30v-9d) secured their 2nd place by winning 78-76 against the Connecticut Sun. The Minneapolis franchise already knows its first-round opponent, and it will be the Phoenix Mercury. For the rest, there are still uncertainties.

For the Sun, 3rd (27-12), everything will be decided in the last game of the regular season. The Connecticut franchise hosts the Chicago Sky, while the Aces (26-13) host the Wings. Winners tonight over the Storm, the two-time defending champions are assured of having home-field advantage in the first round. For its part, Gabby Williams' Storm will finish 5th, and will therefore meet the Sun or the Aces in the first round.

The Dream in a favorable position

In 6th place, it won't move for Caitlin Clark's Lever, nor for the Mercury in 7th place.

On the other hand, the suspense remains total for the 8th place. Winner of the Sky this night, the Dream (14v-25d) won the most important match of the year, and Tina Charles' partners have the upper hand before the last day of Thursday on the Sky and the Mystics (13v-26d). Their opponent? The Liberty, who thus secured the first place of the regular season this night and will have nothing more to play for…
