It's carnage for the San Francisco 49ers. After Christian McCaffrey's injury, it's now star receiver Deebo Samuel's turn to be out with a calf injury. While the exact length of his absence is not yet known, it's likely to be several weeks at the very least. Coach Kyle Shanahan announced it at a press conference, as confirmed by ESPN.
Author of 892 yards and 7 touchdowns in reception in 2023, Deebo Samuel is a key piece of the 49ers' offensive system. Not spared by injuries in his career, he will be missed by a Niners attack that has already shown its limits in the defeat against the Vikings in the second week.
For San Francisco, Brock Purdy and Brandon Aiyuk will have to show a different face than they did against Minnesota.
