Dirk Nowitzki excited after Klay Thompson's arrival in Dallas

Like every year, Dirk Nowitzki organized a tennis tournament for his foundation in Dallas. With some great people again since Klay Thompson, JJ Barea and Steve Nash were present.

Precisely, the arrival of the “Splash Brother” at the Mavericks is the event of the offseason in Texas.

“I think we've fixed some depth issues on the wings.” thus explained the local legend. “Adding Klay will give Luke (Doncic) and Kyrie (Irving) more freedom with the ball. So I think there's real depth on the team… If they stay healthy, they can still go deep in the playoffs.”

Derek Lively II in Tyson Chandler's Footsteps

Like the Mavs' leaders, Dirk Nowitzki considers that the team lacked “spacing”, especially in the Finals against the Celtics. And that Klay Thompson's experience will be a plus, which JJ Barea confirms.

“They are close to each other and they are only progressing” explains the Puerto Rican. “(Klay Thompson) is a different player. He's smart, he's confident, he's experienced. He's been there before, he's done it and he knows what it takes to win. I really think he's going to help the team a lot.”

But the retired German does not forget Dereck Lively II, who impressed him as a rookie.

“He reminds me so much of Tyson (Chandler). He loves to talk, he loves to defend… and he’s still so young.” concludes Dirk Nowitzki about the young pivot. “He really has no limits.”
