Almost the entire Rockets roster is already training in the franchise's new facilities, and it's an opportunity for some to discover Reed Sheppard. Third pick in the 2024 Draft, the former Kentucky guard impressed everyone during the Las Vegas summer league, and he confirmed his great potential during the first “scrimmages” with his teammates.
“He's a very composed guy, and he can shoot from the same distances as Stephen Curry. That's the first thing you notice about him.” explains Amen Thompson. For Sheppard, this first contact with the rest of the group “is just fun.” “Being in the gym with the whole team, young guys, older guys… Learning how to play with them, getting a feel for the coaches and how everything is going to go, I’m super excited.”
Amen Thompson is all grown up!
All this under the eyes of Ime Udoka, even if the latter does not have the right to lead the sessions. “It's good preparation for training camp and getting a good start. Physically, we have a group of young guys who are going to progress and thicken up quickly. We've seen a few of them already.”
Like for example, Amen Thompson. “I feel very different. I’m getting stronger, faster, more athletic,” Ausar’s twin confides. “I’ve developed a lot this summer and I feel like it’s translated onto the field. People keep telling me I’m taller. I hope I am, and I’m going to start saying I’m 7’11.”
