Amazon Prime could get NBA games this season

From the 2025/26 season, Amazon Prime will become one of the three NBA broadcasters, in the United States but also internationally, with half of the French offering in particular.

But the New York Post explains that Jeff Bezos' firm could pick up games to broadcast this season. How? Through an agreement with Bally Sports, the local broadcaster of 13 NBA franchises that is on the verge of bankruptcy, and which therefore needs to reassure its investors about its ability to find sources of income.

Broadcaster of the Hawks, Hornets, Cavaliers, Pistons, Pacers, Clippers, Grizzlies, Heat, Bucks, Wolves, Thunder, Magic and Spurs on regional channels, Bally Sports should thus allow Amazon Prime to also broadcast the games of these 13 NBA franchises via its streaming service, even if they will only be accessible to people located in the regional zone of the franchises.

A service that should cost $20 per month, while the agreement would also cover five MLB (baseball) franchises and nine NHL (ice hockey) franchises.

For Bally Sports, the deal would provide a direct cash flow and broad distribution, without requiring fans to pay for a cable subscription. For Amazon Prime, it's a chance to start streaming sports, a year ahead of the NBA.
