If some people start dreaming of an association between LeBron James and Stephen Currythe likelihood of this happening is pretty slim. Even more so now that ESPN announces the more or less expected extension of the leader of the Warriors with his usual frankness.
In detail, the four-time NBA champion is re-signing for one year and… $62.6 million ! This means that he is now under guaranteed contract with Golden State until the summer of 2027. He will be 39 when his lease ends and this could be the last contract negotiation of his career.
Stephen Curry's $63 million is in addition to the $115 million he was already due to receive in 2024–25 and 2025–26. No real surprises regarding this re-signing, then, since the two-time MVP had control of the file and the Warriors were ready to offer him everything he asked for financially.
Now it remains to be seen whether the best shooter in history will win a fifth title (if not more) in the next three years with the team he joined in 2009. And which he hopes to never leave if it remains competitive…
