Wizards re-sign Kira Lewis Jr.

Since his arrival in the league in 2020, Kira Lewis Jr. has never managed to establish himself. Between competition with the Pelicans and then an ACL injury at the end of 2021, the playmaker is struggling to find a place and even to simply start a game in the starting five (no career starts).

The proof: last season, he only played 28 games in three different teams, first with New Orleans, then in Utah and finally in Toronto. Despite his time in the Summer League in Las Vegas with the Rockets, he had been looking for a contract since the end of the 2023/24 season.

Finally, he could bounce back with the Wizards since Kira Lewis Jr. was invited to the Washington franchise's training camp, along with Leaky Black and Jaylen Nowell, we learned. The Athletic.

The three men will therefore fight to obtain a place in the squad. In reality, especially for a ” two-way contract ” because the Wizards already have 16 players under contract, but only have two “two-way contracts” and each franchise is entitled to three such contracts in its group.

Two-way contract : Designed to create a new bridge between the NBA and the G-League, this type of contract allows each team to secure the services of two or three additional players, to have them play mainly in their affiliated development league franchise but also up to 50 matches in the NBA.
