Chiefs: Creed Humphrey wins historic jackpot

After a superb start to his career, the young center landed $72 million.

In just 3 seasons in the NFL, Creed Humphrey has become one of the best centers in the NFL. His adventure in Kansas City will continue, as he has just signed a 4-year extension for $72 million. It was journalist Adam Schefter who announced the signing of the former Oklahoma player, who also specifies that the contract includes $50 million guaranteed.

A two-time Super Bowl winner, two-time Pro Bowler and All Pro, Creed Humphrey has come a long way since being selected in the second round of the draft, and he's now the highest-paid center in history. The extension is in addition to the one year remaining on his rookie contract. He's now signed through the end of the 2028 campaign.

A true mastermind of the offensive line, he has developed a strong relationship with Patrick Mahomes, constituting a duo that has become indispensable as proven by the amount of the contract. If a personal goal is needed for this 2024 season, the 1st All Pro team can be a goal, especially with the retirement of Jason Kelce.

In addition to those accolades, Humphrey didn't miss a single snap protecting Missouri's most important man, Patrick Mahomes. And no one can say the partnership between the two players wasn't fruitful. Together they won two Super Bowls, and in style.

Chiefs record contract collection

Creed Humphrey is now the new leader among centers. His average annual salary has surpassed that of Frank Ragnow (Lions), a record that stood for 3 years. Brett Veach, the Chiefs' general manager, has rarely made mistakes in his choices lately. He also knows how to be financially aggressive in order to keep his best players.

Heading into the 2023 season, he notably offered Patrick Mahomes a contract restructuring with an amount of guaranteed money never seen before. This summer, he did it again with Chris Jones, his best defender and now the highest-paid defender in the NFL. Creed Humphrey is added to this list.
