Angel Reese becomes fastest player to reach 20 double-doubles

Sure, the Sky lost (86-68) for the second time in less than a week against the Mercury, but the Chicago WNBA team can still rejoice in another satisfying performance from Angel Reese, author of yet another “double-double”.

The seventh pick in the 2024 Draft stood out with a 19-point, 20-rebound game against Diana Taurasi and her gang. This is his 20th double-double. after only 27 matches played in his career. It's quite simple, no one has ever done better to reach this symbolic bar.

Although the Sky had already lost heavily in the first game (85-65), Angel Reese still progressed in her individual production. She went from 11 points on 4/14 shooting and 15 rebounds to 19 points on 8/16 shooting and 20 rebounds, showing her ability to adapt to opponents of the caliber of Diana Taurasi or Brittney Griner.

Many records in sight

Caitlin Clark's number 1 contender for the Rookie Of The Year award, Angel Reese is well on her way to breaking all the double-double records after her historic streak of 15 consecutive games. The Sky player could notably have her sights set on the franchise's single-season double-double record. She is currently two units away from Sylvia Fowles' record in 2011 and the rookie double-double record held since 2010 by Tina Charles.

With 13 regular-season games remaining, Reese could even aim for Alyssa Thomas' single-season double-double record. The Sun player had 28 last season.
