Accustomed to playing in the playoffs for three years, Malik Beasley will change universe next season. By signing with Detroit, the shooter arrives in a team that only won 14 games last season, and even only 94 in five years…
Not ideal when you're coming off a season in Milwaukee, which won the title in 2021, remains a stronghold in the Eastern Conference and aims for the top every year.
“I want this season to have an impact. And coming from a team that won the title, I want to bring that energy to Detroit,” he explains. “I miss Detroit basketball, that energy. I want that back.”
A regional of the stage
Because his family is from the area, Malik Beasley has already been involved with the local community. He held a camp with young players at Hillside Middle School in Northville, a few miles from Detroit, this week. “Giving back to the community always helps and makes me happy”he said.
While having already started working to change the face of this team, along with other veterans, like Tim Hardaway Jr. and Tobias Harris, also summer recruits.
“I work with a few guys, with Hardaway in Miami. I've met him a few times, we work in the same room.”says the former Denver player. “Everyone is cool and tells me that the dynamic is already different compared to last season. So I'm excited. […] I talk to the guys a lot, I share my experience. I played with the best, in teams where a defeat was the end of the world, then in others where it was accepted. You have to keep this state of mind.
