EuroBasket U16 | France to challenge Spain in final

Third of theEurobasket U16 Last summer, at the head of a magnificent generation, the coach of the French team Nicholas Absalon will this time have the opportunity to win gold in the final of the Eurobasket U16 2024 organized in Heraklion (Greece) against Spain this Saturday.

After dominating the debates in the group stage, in the round of 16 against Croatia (90-59) then Latvia in the quarter-finals (66-41), the Bleuets had to overcome the Serbs yesterday to reach the final. Winners 67-60the Bleuets held up remarkably over time, in commitment and intensity, responding each time to the opposing attacks. It took in particular the 3-pointers of Aaron Towo-Nansi and Louka Letailleur to respond to the arrows of Aleksandar Krunic and Vuk Danilovic who had reduced the gap to three small points (58-55), then that of Karl-Randell Kouame-Zeze in order to regain a solid lead as the “money-time” approached (64-55). It was then thanks to the 6th block of the Pôle France interior Cameron Houindo (15 points, 9 rebounds) that the French were able to validate their success for good.

The France – Spain final at 8:00 p.m.

Led by the trio Towo-Nansi-Letailleur-Houindo, Nicolas Absalon's protégés will now have to challenge Spain in the final, which for its part knocked out host country Greece (77-71), notably thanks to 20 points from Javier Viguer and 17 from Marcos Zurita. The final promises to be undecided but Spain will go in as favourites, having already won the Euro U16 last year. What will happen this Saturday? The answer tonight from 8pm.
