Stephen Curry talks about his first dunk at… 19 years old!

It must be recognized that the dunks of Stephen Curry are rather rare, and we tend to think of Stephen Curry far from the basket, closer to the 3-point line than the rim. And yet, the Warriors' point guard can indeed dunk.

However, it was a little late that Stephen Curry signed his first dunk. If Jayson Tatum admits to having made his first dunk at the age of 12 and Bam Adebayo only 11, Stephen Curry, for his part, was already in university.

“I was 19 years old”, Curry says. “I was a freshman in college. It took me that long… In Davidson. On a lob pass, with a two-foot, two-handed call. It made quite a splash on campus that day.”

A notable dunk against the Cavaliers

Subsequently, Curry will have made several dunks in the NBA. At his own risk, because from his height of 1m88, there were also some misses like against the Rockets in 2019, where he was blocked by the rim. However, one dunk particularly marked him, it was against the Cavaliers in 2018.

Most of his dunks come after steals when he goes alone on the counterattack. This time, the “Splash Bro” cuts into the paint, Kevin Durant serves him, he puts his supports and goes up to the circle on a dunk with two feet and two hands.

“It was like a dream”says the Warriors player. “I thought I was going to wake up and be back in my hotel bed, but it happened. Someone said it was like seeing a unicorn. But it was pretty cool for me to dunk in that kind of situation.”
