Theo Maledon returns to Asvel

Like Frank Ntilikina, who signed with Partizan Belgrade, Theo Maledon has decided to return to Europe, and it is even a return to his roots for the former leader of the Blues since he has chosen to sign with Asvel. Having left for the United States four years ago, Maledon took part in the French Cup-Championship double in 2019 and he was even elected MVP of the Coupe de France final.

A year later, he was selected 34th in the 2020 Draft, and after an interesting start with the Thunder, averaging 10 points, the young point guard failed to follow up with the Hornets or the Suns.

“I am very happy and proud of Théo's return! Combined with the profiles of Neal Sako, Melvin Ajinca and Mbaye Ndiaye, his return marks the heart of our project for the club and demonstrates our confidence in a balanced team, combining experience and youth!” reacted Gaétan Muller, the club's CEO.

Pierric Poupet – Coach of LDLC ASVEL: “We can look forward to adding a talented young French player to our squad. I am convinced that Théo has not yet reached his full potential, and he will have the opportunity to show it this season in an environment he knows perfectly. He will contribute to us in particular in creation, in the transition game and in pick & roll.”
