What options do the Sixers have at power forward?

The hard work has already been done for the Sixers this offseason. They signed Paul George and also extended Tyrese Maxey to be more competitive than ever. They also brought in role players to have a solid roster. But one question still remains on the roster. Who will play power forward for the Sixers next season?

Currently, the Sixers do not have a professional power forward on the roster, and only KJ Martin, little used last season (12 minutes of play on average), can help out at this position. But it seems unlikely to see him start games alongside the Tyrese Maxey – Paul George – Joel Embiid trio.

Sure, Philly could count on its wingers to do the job alongside Joel Embiid, but as it stands, Tobias Harris hasn't been replaced, and there's a real void at that position.

A new power forward as reinforcement?

“You could say Kelly (Oubre Jr.), Caleb (Martin) and PG (Paul George) are all interchangeable from the 2 to the 4 position.”, Nick Nurse qualified last month. “I personally think there are wingers on the pitch, and that's how I see it.”

Clearly, Nick Nurse does not see a difference between a “small forward” and a “power forward” in modern basketball. The fact remains that it is always better to have a specialist in the position to support Joel Embiid, and offer him space in attack, while supporting him on the rebound. Useful with the Cavaliers during the playoffs, Marcus Morris could take on this role and he would still be studying offers from the Cavaliers and the Sixers, for whom he would be ready to make a discount.

The Sixers are also reportedly following Davis Bertans. The Latvian shooter could integrate Nick Nurse's rotation with his outside shooting. Experienced Jae Crowder or Danilo Gallinari are also on the free agent market and are being followed by the franchise like Thaddeus Young or Lamar Stevens
