Marcelinho Huertas bids farewell to the Seleçao

The third and last olympic games of Marcelinho Huertas were historic. The Brazilian thus became the oldest player to participate in the Olympic Games in basketball (41 years old) and he also entered the ranking of the best passers of the competition.

With his 5 assists, during the quarter-final lost against the USA (122-87), he thus passed Facundo Campazzo and joined Andrew Gaze in 9th place in passers of the Olympic tournament. Last year, Marcelinho Huertas had already joined the private club of players with more than 100 assists in the World Cup.

The 41-year-old point guard will have participated in no less than five World Cups, three Olympic Games and five AmeriCups. He will win the AmeriCup twice (2005 and 2009) and will fail twice in the final (2011 and 2022).

He will nevertheless continue his club career since he still has two years of contract with Tenerife. He notably shone in the Champions League, where he lost in the final. He was still elected MVP of the competition.
