Kansas City rewards key players. NFL Media reports that the Chiefs have reached an agreement with Harrison Butker on a four-year, $25.6 million contract extension.
At 29, he thus becomes the highest paid kicker in the NFL, and is assured of a guaranteed minimum salary of $17.75 million. A deal that he negotiated himself, without a representative.
Harrison Butker past Justin Tucker and Jake Elliott
In 2024, Harrison Butker would enter the final year of the five-year contract he signed in 2019, for $20.3 million. He is now committed to the Chiefs until the end of the 2028 season.
With an average of $6.4 million per season on his new extension, Butker surpasses the $6 million annual payouts given to Justin Tucker (Ravens) and Jake Elliott (Eagles) to become the highest-paid kicker in the league.
Selected in the 7th round of the 2018 draft by the Panthers, Butker quickly found his place in the Missouri roster. He is coming off a 2023 season with 94.3% accuracy (33/35 on field goals, 38/38 in extra points). He has participated in the franchise's last three titles.
