Precious Achiuwa finally returns to the Knicks

It took several weeks, but Precious Achiuwa is now set on its future. Knicks have actually communicated on his re-signature and ESPN specifies that it is a contract worth $6 million over one year.

Released by the franchise at the end of June, the Nigerian therefore obtains a salary equivalent to the “qualifying offer” which could have been proposed to him by the New York management and this return to new York was somewhat expected, since the departure of Isaiah Hartenstein to Oklahoma City.

Arriving at the Knicks during the season, Precious Achiuwa quickly gained the appreciation of Tom Thibodeau, who never hesitated to call on his soldier when other players were on the sidelines. Big Applehe averaged 7.6 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in the regular season, before dropping to 5.2 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in the playoffs.

Next season, the 24-year-old center will still be facing competition from Julius Randle, Mitchell Robinson and Jericho Sims in the New York racket. Or even OG Anunoby, Keita Bates-Diop or even Josh Hart, if his coach prefers to opt for “small-ball”.
