We knew that the arrival ofAmazon to shake up the NBA's international TV rights, and that will definitely be the case in France. According to information from L'EquipePrime Video has thus obtained a (large) piece of the French market.
From 2025, in France, the American giant's streaming service should be able to broadcast, as in the United States, 66 regular season matches, the Emirates NBA Cup, the entire “play-in” and a third of the series of the first and semi-finals of the conference playoffs.
As a bonus, Prime Video would have obtained 20 additional regular season games to broadcast in the French market, a conference final each year and the NBA Finals on 6 of the 11 years of the contract!
What about beIN Sports?
In short, only half of the pie remains available for the period 2025-2036. As an NBA broadcaster since 2012, will beIN Sports agree to share the broadcast of the Major League with Prime Video?
For now, we will have to see if the channel renews its contract with the NBA for the 2024/25 season…
It should be noted, however, that the agreement between the NBA and Amazon, even if it is well on its way, is not yet fully validated, with Warner Bros. Discovery intending to take the matter to court.
Another question: will we be able to watch the NBA in France on Amazon Prime Video with a simple Prime subscription, or will we have to pay extra, as was the case with Ligue 1?
