Just like 17 months ago, Russell Westbrook has been officially released by Utah

Russell Westbrook will probably never play for Jazz, but he was part of their squad twice.

In February 2023, it was the Salt Lake City franchise that picked him up, then cut him in the process, while his adventure with the Lakers ended, and he subsequently joined the Clippers.

Bis repetita in this month of July 2024, where he technically joined Salt Lake City as part of the transfer of Kris Dunn to the Clippers. But yesterday, Danny Ainge's franchise has indicated have released the 2017 MVP again.

A cumulative salary of 7.3 million dollars?

At 35, Russell Westbrook is now free to sign wherever he wants, and he is expected in Denver.

The Nuggets were looking for a replacement for Jamal Murray, and this little detour to Utah allows the Rockies club to make some (small) savings since “Brodie” will be paid $3.3 million, the veteran minimum for a player of his experience, and not $4 million, as his “player option” offered him.

It is unclear, however, whether the former Thunder player left money on the table to leave the Jazz, or whether the club offered him his full salary for the upcoming season. If so, he will actually receive $7.3 million for the upcoming campaign, with his “player option” at $4 million plus his future contract of $3.3 million.
