It's the summer of extensions in Boston. Because after Jayson Tatum and Derrick White (while Jrue Holiday had extended beforehand), it's now Sam Hauser who signed a new lease with the Celtics!
While he will receive $2.1 million next year, ESPN reports $45 million deal over four years starting from the 2025/26 season. This represents a very nice salary increase for the shooter…
Among the most efficient gunners in the NBA this season (42.4% success), Sam Hauser is therefore part of the franchise's long-term project, which did not hesitate to take out the checkbook to lock in its core group.
The Celtics don't count
Already in the red with the upcoming salaries of Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, Jrue Holiday, Kristaps Porzingis, Derrick White and Payton Pritchard, the Celtics now find themselves with a potential salary cap of $225 million in 2025/26. And therefore a potential luxury tax of $210 million!
Enough to shatter the Suns' just-beaten penalty record. As they are expected to be above the “second apron” for the second year in a row, the Celtics' future draft picks will become untradeable.
But on the Massachusetts side, they trust the group that just won the title. And anyway, the bill should be paid by the next owners…
