Is it that Kyrie Irving will be in uniform for the resumption of the season? It is not certain since the Mavericks revealed that their star point guard had undergone surgery on his left hand. “He was injured at the beginning of the month during training.”noted the franchise press release. “Further medical information on Irving's status will be released as appropriate.”
The Mavericks have not provided further details on Irving's injury or his timetable for return. It's unclear how he got hurt or what bones he broke, but the season is scheduled to resume in three months, and there's a good chance he'll be in action for the season opener. Typically, a player needs three to eight weeks of recovery before returning to the field.
This season, Russell Westbrook had surgery on March 3 for a broken hand, and he was already back on the 26th of the same month. As for Chris Paul, he was injured on January 6, and he returned to the field on February 28.
While it's reasonable to assume that Irving will be ready for the restart, it's still another setback for the All-Star point guard. He missed 24 games this season, including a foot injury and another to a thumb.
