Good year bad year, Mike Muscala always managed to find a spot on a roster, but this time he decided to call it quits. At 33, the former Thunder winger announced it on social media and according to his fatherBob, he plans to do a master's degree in sports management to become a coach or manager.
Drafted in 44th position by the Mavericks in 2013, Muscala will have worn the jerseys of seven different franchises in 10 years. The last one is the Thunder, and it is his favorite franchise, since he lived his best years there between 2019 and 2023 with 7.0 points and 3.0 rebounds on average, at 39% at 3-pointers.
After the elimination against Dallas in the playoffs, he explained how important it was to come back last February at the time of the “trade deadline”. Especially after a season where he had played for three different teams.
“It means a lot” he had summarized. “The city, the fans, the way they support the team, what the team means to the community, those are things I can relate to. I will always be a Thunder fan, no matter what happens in my life.”
