Social Networks | After the Draft, Rookies See Their Subscriber Count Explode

“Arriving in the NBA” generally rhymes with “notoriety”. Proof of this is this study by SportsCasting who is interested in the explosion in the number of subscribers on social networks, and more particularly on Instagram, since the holding of the Draft 2024.

So, the newly drafted players have all gained in followerswith two French people present in the Top 3 of the strongest progressions: Pacôme Dadiet (Knicks), who went from 4,300 to 14,200 subscribers (+230%), and the first choice Zaccharie Risacher (Hawks), which went from 27,700 to 87,800 subscribers (+217%). They are only surpassed by Tristan Da Silva (Magic), who went from 9,700 to 37,700 subscribers (+289%) since his Draft.

Concerning Alexandre Sarr (Wizards) and Tidjane Salaün (Hornets), the other two French in the first round, they went from 71,700 and 9,700 respectively followers at 121,000 and 24,000 followers. That is to say increases of +68% and +147% for the 2nd and 6th choices of the 2024 Draft.

Bronny James, rookie star

However, overall, these five players are not the ones who have gained the most subscribers, because they are – in order – Jared McCain (Sixers) and Rob Dillingham (Timberwolves).

The first one won 210,000 new followersrising from 1,137,000 to 1,347,000 (+18%). The second gained 194,000 new followersrising from 743,000 to 937,000 (+26%). Next comes Dalton Knecht (Lakers), with its 66,600 new followers (from 74,900 to 141,500 subscribers, i.e. +89%).

Conversely, the two new first-round draftees who saw the least increase in their subscriber numbers are: Isaiah Collier (Jazz) and Devin Carter (Kings): +11% for Necklace (from 96,300 to 106,700 followers) and +9% for Carter (from 108,000 to 117,800 followers).

Good to know: the rookie with the most subscribers on Instagram is none other than Bronny James55th pick in the 2024 Draft, with 8.1 million followers. He still had 7.5 million three months ago…
