Juan Nunez not set to join Spurs anytime soon

We will have to wait to see a Franco-Spanish partnership at the Spurs. In the second round of the last Draft, Brian Wright and the Spurs had thus recovered Juan Nunez, but his arrival in the NBA is not imminent.

The Spaniard is preparing to join Barcelona after two years at Ratiopharm Ulm, in Germany (10.6 points, 5.1 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 1.6 interceptions on average last season). He will join the rotation of the sworn enemy, since he was trained at Real Madrid, which still had its rights in the Spanish championship.

“I wanted a leader and we liked Juan Nunez for a long time. Every year we bet on a young player, and he will fit very well into the team” , Juan Carlos Navarro believes, the General Manager of Barça.

No Olympic Games

Juan Nunez will therefore complete his training a little more in Europe. The 20-year-old player will be able to taste the Euroleague and will have the mission of helping Barcelona to find success again. The Catalan team has indeed had a disappointing season by losing the national title in the final and exiting in the first round of the Euroleague playoffs.

Unlike last year, Juan Nunez will not be joining the national team, however, as he has just been replaced by his future teammate, Alex Abrines, who has just recovered from an injury. In the Philippines, during the World Cup, he was one of the best young players in the competition with 5 points and 5.2 assists on average.
